Greening the Blue
Greening the Blue was launched by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in June 2010. The campaign purpose is to inform UN staff and other stakeholders of what’s happening to green the UN and how they can get involved. It continues to be one of the highest profile internal communications campaigns within the UN system and is supported by thousands of UN staff via social media.
Martineau & Co is responsible for the day-to-day management of the campaign and wider communications. The on-line communications work includes sourcing, writing and editing stories for the website. We also manage an effective social media campaign for the project, as well as undertaking specific campaigns each year such as Earth Hour and World Environment Day. In addition Martineau & Co have written, edited and produced the UN’s annual sustainability report for the last three years and is in the process of developing an online tutorial for UN staff to inform them of sustainability efforts at all levels of the UN.
Martineau & Co were awarded the IVCA Award for Best Website in 2010 and were nominated for the Best Campaign Award by Business Green in 2011 - both for Greening the Blue.

Imogen delivered - both to our team and the whole UN family - an impressive series of high quality, original outputs that have helped to make the SUN initiative a symbol for achievement and innovation in the UN and have supported the shift to a more environmentally sustainable UN System.
We look forward to continuing our work with her and to benefitting from her original ideas, expert communications advice and flexible thinking.
